What is Botox?

Botox is a purified protein that is FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles. It is injected into the muscle underneath the wrinkle. The muscle becomes “paralyzed” and you will not be able to make the facial expression(s) that cause the face to wrinkle.

Is Botox safe?

Yes. Botox is FDA approved and is completely safe. There was some press about some people that were injured a few years ago, but they were not using Botox®. They were using an unpurified substance that was likely obtained from an illegal source.

Does it hurt to get injected with Botox?

There may be a pinching sensation. Everybody’s pain threshold is different, so sensitivity will vary.

How long does the effects of Botox last?

You will see results within 3-14 days and the results can last three to six months.
