What is Photodynamic Therapy?
Photodynamic therapy also known as ALA/PDT is a treatment for sun damage, fine lines, acne vulgaris, acne scarring, rosacea, and precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses). ALA/PDT is a light based treatment combined with the topical application of aminolevulinic acid (Levulan). Levulan is used to photosensitize the skin which is then activated by the correct wavelength of light.
